Today marks five months since the disappearance of Cork woman Tina Satchwell.

Gardaí conducted a large scale land and sea search operation in her home town of Youghal in East Cork yesterday.

Members of the Garda Water Unit carried out dives in Youghal port - while garda and army search teams combed scrub-land and vegetation.

Gardaí said the searches were undertaken based on information uncovered as the investigation continues; however, neither search found any trace of Ms Satchwell.

Nearly 40 garda officers were involved in the searches.

Ms Satchwell has been missing since March 20th.

She was last seen by her husband Richard Satchwell as he left their home on Grattan Street in the Cork town.

On his return home there was no sign of her and two suitcases had been taken along with a sum of money.

Mr Satchwell made an emotional appeal for information on her whereabouts earlier this year.

Barry Roche, the southern correspondent for the Irish Times said gardaí are now renewing their appeal for information.

“They have checked CCTV in the town, they have checked CCTV footage on buses going to and from Youghal because she does not drive, They have checked CCTV footage at airports and seaports so there is a real mystery as to what happened to this woman,” he said.

“Gardaí are perplexed but they have appealed to anyone who has any information however slight to contact them at Midleton Garda Station.

Gardai at Midleton are available on (021) 4621550.
