A major search operation is underway in east Cork this morning in connection with the disappearance of Tina Satchwell who has been missing since earlier this year.

Tina has been missing from her home on Grattan Street in Youghal since the 20th March.

She was last seen by her husband Richard Satchwell before he left to do some grocery shopping.

On his return home there was no sign of her and two suitcases had been taken along with a sum of money.

Mr Satchwell made an emotional appeal for information on her whereabouts earlier this year.

Two suitcases were discovered earlier this month at a recycling centre at Tesco in Youghal which were sent for forensic tests.

It has yet to be confirmed if these belonged to Tina.

Tina's maiden name is Dingivan and she is originally from Fermoy.

She is described as being five foot six inches in height, of medium build with blonde shoulder-length hair and blue eyes.

Today, Gardai are carrying out two searches at locations in Youghal port.

One is being undertaken by the Garda Water Unit, while the second is being carried members of the Divisional Search Team and Garda Dog Unit, accompanied by members of Irish Search Dogs, and Irish Army Specialists.

Any with any information relating to Tina’s disappearance is asked to contact Midleton Garda Station on (021) 4621550.
