Dublin has been named as one of the top cities to visit in the world next year.
It features third on Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2016 list, with the Irish capital coming in ahead of other cities such as Mumbai in India, George Town in Malaysia and Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
Kotor in Montenegro took the top spot, followed in second pace by Quito, Ecuador.
Fáilte Ireland’s Head of Dublin, Orla Carroll, welcomed the news, saying "it reinforces Dublin as a ‘must-visit’ destination which offers an incredible variety of experiences to its visitors".
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said “the inclusion of Dublin at number three in the world in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2016 is wonderful news and will surely help to inspire travellers everywhere to put Dublin and the island of Ireland on their holiday wish-list for 2016.
"It is another well-deserved accolade for Dublin, which provides Tourism Ireland with a great hook to continue to promote the city and Ireland around the world as ‘must visit’ destinations,” he added.
Tourism Minister Paschal Donohoe said he hopes the accolade will encourage more people to visit "this mature, modern and vibrant city that is also so close to nature and the outdoors".
