Eat

Sheremetyevo offers no shortage of eateries. There’s a Burger King, TGI Fridays, a sushi bar, a whole range of coffee shops… or, if Snowden is feeling adventurous, he can check out the local cuisine at Shokoladnitsa Cafeteria. Or perhaps Café Kroshka-kartoshka, offering Russia’s popular baked potato dishes, will prove particularly appealing. The average bill for a potato is only 155 rubles (around €3.60). Bargain.

Drink

Again, Snowden won’t be lacking in the drinks department – Sheremetyevo has all the bases covered, from OJ to coffee to alcohol. As a bonus, Snowden can get some valuable cultural practice in the unlikely (i.e. basically impossible) case that his Irish asylum bid is successful: Sheremetyevo has an Irish bar in Terminal F, because of course it does.

Shop

From gadget shop Euroset to a plethora of duty free options, Snowden is in consumer heaven.

Wait: don’t you need a boarding card to shop in an airport?  Oh well, he can always browse.

Fall in love with a flight attendant and/or Catherine Zeta Jones

His girlfriend Lindsay Mills won’t be happy, but hey, it’d make for a good story and maybe even a film (because Snowden's life isn't exciting enough as is).

Write a(nother) personal statement

Because some are theorising he didn't even do it first time around:

Browse the internet

Sheremetyevo Airport offers free wi-fi with no traffic limits. We hope Snowden is streaming all the HD Netflix he can to take advantage of that technological generosity.

Overcome a fear of flying

Yes, there is no evidence that Mr. Snowden is scared of flying (he’s probably more concerned about what’s going to happen when he lands). Still, just to make sure, he should test out the airport’s unique fear of flying treatment centre. The ‘Virtual Reality Exposition Therapy’ sounds too exciting to miss. It's brand new too, having only opened in June.

Break a record

Mehran Karimi Nasseri (pictured below) spent over 6,500 days - or almost 18 years - in Charles de Gaulle Airport after being exiled from Iran. We’re sure Snowden will want to be well on his way before 2031, but if worst comes to worst he might as well settle in for the long haul and look towards breaking a few records along the way.
