Sources in Leinster House have denied a claim that one TD has used its printing facility to issue 85,000 Christmas cards.
The claim came from Renua TD Lucinda Creighton, who said on Twitter yesterday that the huge order meant she could not get a constituency newsletter printed:
I couldn't get a constituency newsletter printed in Leinster House b/c one TD clogged up the printer with an order for 85000 Christmas cards
— Lucinda Creighton (@LCreighton) December 22, 2015
However it is understood that the politicians' printing facility has not received any order of that size, and that an order of that size would be turned down anyway.
It is also understood that the total number of cards printed by politicians this year is lower than the figure of 85,000.
