The TD at the centre of the Lapgate affair has told the Irish Independent he had a drink before the incident.

Tom Barry pulled Áine Collins on to his lap during Wednesday night's abortion debate - in full view of the Dáil cameras.

Deputy Barry will not face further disciplinary measures, after he apologised for the incident.

He told the newspaper he'd been in the Dáil bar, but wasn't drinking excessively.
