Johnny Depp's estranged wife, Amber Heard, has been granted a restraining order against the Hollywood actor.
A Los Angeles judge ordered Depp on Friday to stay 100 yards away from the actress and ruled that he should not try to contact her.
Heard (30) said in a sworn declaration the actor had thrown her mobile phone at her during a fight on Saturday, hitting her cheek and eye.
She submitted a photo of her apparently bruised face when she applied for the court order.
The Texas-born actress filed for divorce on Monday, blaming irreconcilable differences and saying the pair had separated a day earlier.
The alleged confrontation was a day after Depp's 81-year-old mother, Betty Sue Palmer, died in Los Angeles following a long illness.
'The Pirates of the Caribbean' star was said to have had a very close relationship with his mother.
Laura Wasser, a lawyer for Depp - who is in Portugal for a performance with his band 'Hollywood Vampires' - declined to comment on the restraining order.
But a representative for the actor told People magazine on Thursday: "Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life".
"Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly".
Spousal support
Depp (52) married Heard in February 2015, after they had been dating for three years.
Earlier this week, the actor asked a judge to reject Heard's claim for spousal support.
Celebritynetworth.com estimates Depp's wealth at US$400m (€359m).
The pair, who do not have children together, met on the set of the film 'The Rum Diary' in 2011.
Depp was previously in a long-term relationship with French singer Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has two children. They split in 2012.
He was previously married to Lori Anne Allison from 1983-85.
Heard pleaded guilty last month to falsifying documents to conceal their two pet Yorkshire terriers, Pistol and Boo, when she arrived in Australia last year on a private jet to join the actor on the set of the new Pirates of the Caribbean film.
The couple's apology, which was filmed as part of a deal with prosecutors that allowed Heard to avoid a conviction, was later widely mocked over its apparent lack of sincerity.
