Fine Gael TD John Perry is to be added to the party's election ticket in Sligo-Leitrim.

Fine Gael has withdrawn its defence in a case taken at the High Court, and Deputy Perry will be officially added tomorrow.

Mr Perry had said Taoiseach Enda Kenny had mad a "clear commitment" to allow all sitting TDs contest the general election.

Deputy Perry says he had received many Mass cards and constituents had lit candles for him.

In the last few minutes he said he thanked God for this day.
