Jessie Buckley has said it was a “real honour” to win Best Actress at the 83rd Golden Globes awards, last night in Beverly Hills, California.
The 36 year old Killarney woman received the award for her role as Agnes Hathaway in Hamnet, alongside Paul Mescal.
The film tells the story of William Shakespeare and his wife, Agnes, as they cope to terms with the death of their son, Hamnet.

“This is not a normal feeling or situation to be in,” Ms Buckley said after winning her award.
“Thank you, Golden Globes, thank you, Focus and everybody who supported this film.
“This is a real, real honour; I love what I do and I love being part of this industry.”
Hamnet is an adaptation of a novel of the same name by Derry author Maggie O’Farrell.
