A TD has described the pending charges against water protesters as an attack on the anti water charge movement and people's right to protest.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's demonstration against the charge Deputy Paul Murphy said that it would be a curtailment of basic civil liberties if people were jailed.
Mr Murphy previously said he "really wouldn't want to go to prison" over the water charges.
No-one has yet been charged as a result of the incident.
As many as 20 people could face charges as a result of a protest in the Jobstown area of Dublin last November.
