Israel agrees to extend current ceasefire in Gaza

Israel is understood to have conditionally agreed to extend the current 72 hour ceasefire in Gaza.

Hamas says no agreement has been reached. 

It comes as Egyptian mediators are working with Israeli and Palestinian officials in Cairo to try to work out a more permanent peace deal.

The Israeli Prime Minister has tonight accused Hamas of hiding behind its civilian population and exploiting civilian targets.

Speaking at a press conference, Benjamin Netanyahu said the tragedy of Gaza is that it's ruled by Hamas.

 As negotiations continue on a permanent ceasefire -  the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon had this message for the Israeli and Palestinians attending the talks:
