Retailers in Dublin could have to shut up shop as commercial rents look set to soar next year.

A survey carried out by Retail Ireland has found that rates in the capital could jump by 30 to 80 per cent to fund the upkeep of the premises.

The increases could force struggling retailers out of business leaving many people out of a job.
