Train services are returning to normal after an earlier incident on the 11am Sligo-Maynooth service to Dublin.

A passenger who apparently missed their stopped pulled the emergency cord on the train at Ashtown.

The man then broke into the driver's cab and punched him in the face.

Gardai are believed to be searching for the male passanger, who then got off the train and proceeded to run up the tracks.

Irish Rail says Sligo-Maynooth services are now operating into Connolly Station with the possibility of delays.
