Irish people now eat more ice-cream that the Italians. Research shows that on average each of us consumes 8 litres of the tasty treat per year.
This puts us ahead of both the Italians and the British.
But people from New Zealand top the poll consuming a staggering 28.4 litres per person per year, followed closely by the USA at almost 21 litres.
The research was carried out by 11850, which described the findings as 'startling', given that fact that "Ireland's summer usually consists of two weeks of sun broken by intermittent rain showers".

The survey comes amid the continuing warm weather. Last week saw temperatures staying in the late 20s while the dry spell looks set to continue for the rest of this week and over next weekend.
Met Eireann says the area of high pressure will build up over the country during Thursday and Friday and persist through the weekend, and probably into early next week too.
Temperatures rise in to the mid to high 20s on Friday and across the weekend, with hottest weather in the western half of the country. But we are being warned that high humidity and high temperatures at night may feel uncomfortable for some.
