A Dublin man is suing singer Rihanna for defamation, and the legal action is to take place in the High Court in Dublin.
Geoffrey Keating, with an address at Woodbank Drive, Valley Park in Finglas was the former head of security for the 'Umbrella' singer when she was on tour from October 2012 to July 2013.
It is alleged Rihanna sent a number of e-mails containing highly defamatory comments which Mr. Keating claims have hurt his reputation.
His solicitor, Gerald Kean of Kean Solictors, explains.
This is not the first time Rihanna (26) has had legal woes. In July last year, the Barbadian singer won a court battle against the British cloting chain Topshop at the High Court in London.
She accused the fashion chain of passing off, or attempting to pass off, the garments as being approved by her. Topshop disputed her claim, but the court ruled in her favour after a hearing.
Bringing the action under her full name of Robyn Rihanna Fenty, the US-based celebrity alleged an unknown quantity of t-shirts was acquired by Topshop in 2011 and early 2012 and offered for sale under the name "Rihanna Tank".
Court documents claimed that, after being challenged by the singer's lawyers, Topshop dropped her name on the t-shirt and referred to "Headscarf Girl Tank", and then to "Icon Tank".
The image under attack was taken by a freelance photographer "without her permission" while the popstar was filming a video in Northern Ireland for one of her singles in 2011.
