More than 1,300 home repossession cases came before the Irish courts in only 10 days earlier this month.
The Sunday Independent reports that between July 6th and 16th, a flood of repossession cases were heard around the country.
The highest number of cases took place in Letterkenny, County Donegal with 131 cases. The second highest number - 110 cases - were heard in County Wicklow.
The figures coincide with preliminary findings from a survey by the Irish Mortgage Holders' Organisation survey on the mental impact of debt - some with imminent plans to end their own life as they battled mortgage arrears.
The survey also found patterns of high alcohol consumption, as well as high levels of stress in children and adults.
David Hall of the Irish Mortgage Holders' Organisation says the latest figures are not surprising and will continue to grow;
