The former Greek Finance Minister says Ireland should never have switched from Punts to Euros.

Yanis Varoufakis thinks neither the Greeks nor the Irish should have singed up to the single currency, because it was never designed for money to flow from the richer countries to the poorer ones.

However he doesn't believe the British should leave the European Union.

The UK will hold a so-called 'In/Out' referendum on their EU membership in less than a week's time.

Mr Varoufakis says it's harder to get out, than get in: "Ireland should not have gone in, we should not have gone in. But it's one thing to say, it's quite another to say that should exit. You remember those Indiana Jones movies were Indiana rushes into a temple and the path behind him crumbles? This is our situation."
