Shopping for groceries in Ireland is a costly affair with the fifth highest prices in Europe.

New figures from Eurostat show we pay much more than our European neighbours for everyday products such as milk, eggs, bread and meat.

Irish prices on alcohol are second only to Finland - at 66% above the average.

Tobacco products in Ireland are double the average across the Union.
