This morning, the funeral will be held of Andrew O'Donnell who died following a fall on the Greek Island of Ios on July 1st.

Mr O’Donnell is believed to have fallen on a rocky hill on the outskirts of the island’s main town of Hora, after he became separated from a friend while walking home after a night socialising.

Only hours after his body was discovered, his classmate Max Wall collapsed near the island’s port and was later pronounced dead.

Initial postmortems conducted by Greek authorities indicated that Mr O’Donnell died from head injuries related to the fall; he was described as possessing a vibrant spirit, a kind heart and a sense of humour that brightened the darkest of days.

The funeral mass will take place at 11am this morning at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Donnybrook, followed by a private family cremation.

Mr Wall was laid to rest on Monday following a mass at the same Church; the congregation heard he was 'the funniest man on earth' and that the world had “lost a little colour” following his death.
