Gardaí have released the name of a man whose body was found in a bog in County Meath this week.
45-year-old Gerard Daly was last seen at his home in Bailieboro in Cavan on the 26th of June 2011.
A missing persons report was filed just three days after he disappeared but there was no sign of him until two days ago when his remains were discovered at a bog in Co Meath.
The discovery was made during excavation work at Oristown Bog near Kells on Thursday.
A post-mortem examination was carried out by the State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.
A burnt out shell of a car was also recovered at the scene. It is understood the car was reported stolen in the Kells area in 2003.
A technical and forensic examination of the scene has now concluded. Gardaí in Kells say their investigation is continuing.
