Gardaí are investigating the suspicious death of an 8-year-old boy in North Cork this morning.
The boy died following an incident at a house at Harrison Place in Charleville at around 9:30am this morning.
The area has been sealed off and a full technical examination is due to take place.
Gardaí were called to the scene before 10am this morning.
It is understood they are treating the death of the 8-year-old as suspicious.
The services of the State pathologists office have been requested and Dr. Margaret Bolster is expected to attend the scene later.
The house has been cordoned off pending a full technical examination.
Garda sources have indicated the incident could be upgraded to a full murder inquiry.
