The first four months of this year have seen more carnage on Irish roads when compared with the same period in previous years.

As a result, the Road Safety Authority is asking people to be extra vigilant behind the wheel this bank holiday weekend.

Motorcyclists in particular are being urged to make sure they are visible on the roads and do not take any unnecessary risks.
