On today's show, Shane was joined Frank McDonald, former Environment Editor of The Irish Times, and Dr Ciara Kellly to have a look over the Sunday papers.
One of the stories covered in today's papers concerns the rumours that a number of independent politicians - including TDs Catherine Murphy and Stephen Donnelly, and Senator Katherine Zappone - are considering coming together to form a new centre-left party.
"These are people I think people associate with political integrity and being conviction politicians," Dr Kelly argued.
"To see them come together to form a party interests me an excites me... and the fact that it is centre-left and liberal in its core values," she explained, saying she would find such a party much more interesting than Renua.
Elsewhere, there was coverage across all of the papers of the closure of Clerys. Frank said, "it's a tragedy for Dublin. Clerys has been synonymous with O'Connell Street for decades. Dating couples used to meet under Clerys clock.
"It's very sad particularly that this has happened with less than a year to go until the commemoration of centenary of the Rising. The original Clerys was destroyed during the Rising and was rebuilt in the early 20s.
"If people say 'it looks an awful lot like Selfridges in London', that's because it was modeled on Selfridges," he pointed out, adding it's a building of considerable importance in terms of the emergence of modern architecture in Ireland.
Elsewhere, there was a heartwarming story about how the wife of well known presenter Michael Lester saved his life. Dr Kelly also explained how she signed up under 'genuine duress' to the plan of free GP care for under-sixes, which she believes is "the wrong thing to do... you are going to see the needs of the wealthy being met at the expense of the poor".
