The 96th annual Liffey Swim takes place in Dublin today.
Almost 400 swimmers are set to take part in the gruelling 2.2 kilometre swim from Rory O'More Bridge, beside the Guinness Brewery, as far as Custom House Quay.
Swimmers from 15 countries - and as far afield as the US and Australia - are taking part, with the age range ranging from teenagers to those in their 70s.
Anne Marie Kenrick of the Phoenix Swimming Club in Dublin is a veteran of the swim.
She says having crowds of spectators gives the race a unique atmosphere:
The men's race gets underway at 2.30 with the women's race starting an hour later.
