The HSE says it is working to rectify issues at Aras Attracta care home in Swinford, Co Mayo.

HIQA has issued a notice of a proposal to cancel registration for Centre 2 at the facility, which caters for people with challenging behaviour.

A statement from the HSE this evening says it is disappointed at the notice, considering the significant work and programme of change underway, and it remains strongly committed to addressing issues raised, particularly in relation to staffing and governance.

"While we are disappointed considering the significant work and programme of change which is underway at the centre and the favorable reports from HIQA following inspection in April this year, we are strongly committed to addressing the issues raised, particularly in relation to staffing and governance," the statement said.

The HSE has 28 days to respond to the notice.
