Hotpoint is recalling more than 70 thousand dishwashers a year after the manufacturer was warned the machines pose a fire risk.
The affected models were made between June 2006 and March 2007 and hotpoint was warned last year that they had caused a number of fires.
The company has so far managed to trace around seven thousand.
A statement on the company's website says they are aware of 15 reports of dishwasher heating element failures, seven of which resulted in fire and smoke damage beyond the unit. No injuries have been reported.
The affected machines are the Hotpoint with the model number starting HLD4.
It's thought that most of the dishwashers were sold in the UK.
