Met Éireann meteorologist John Eagleton spoke to Newstalk's Breakfast this morning about our current heatwave.
Yesterday was the hottest day for 7 years and the mercury is only going to go higher today.
Monday was the hottest day here since July 19th 2006, when 31 degrees was recorded at Casement Aerodrome.
Met Éireann forecaster Joanna Donnelly says it was the hottest day of the year yesterday, and probably in quite a while, "It's not a record though. The record is still over 30 degrees in 1887. Yesterday it was 28.7 degrees in Oakpark, Co. Carlow."
That could be bested today, with Met Éireann warning the heat will soar to 30 degrees.
The forecaster has issued a Status Yellow weather warning because of the high temperatures.
John Eagleton says that's standard, and happens when the temperature peaks above 27 degrees.
Of course, many are taking to Twitter to share their thoughts and photos of the hot weather:
I've already roundhouse kicked 3 people today who were giving out about it being too warm. #heatwave
