Inner City Helping Homeless CEO Anthony Flynn fears more vulnerable people may die as the weather gets colder:
“We have extended our cold weather initiative plan ourselves and we have operations where teams are out on the streets later at night and earlier in the morning to try and help people,” he said.
“But the fact is, we need beds.
“Bed needs to be put in the system and the minister is not putting those beds in.
“Over the last number of weeks what we have seen is two hostel closures within facilities – so we are seeing reductions and we are not seeing increases and that is the main reason why we are seeing deaths on the street.”
