The self-proclaimed 'King of the High-Wire' Nik Wallenda broke tightrope records by crossing between two skyscrapers while blindfolded last night - without a safety net or harness.

The stuntman, who was the first person to walk over Niagara Falls on a tightrope, now holds nine Guinness World Records after his triumph in Chicago.

Making his way from Marina City's west tower to the Leo Burnett Building, Wallenda took six minutes to cross the 140m journey - while a huge crowd 180m below cheered on his breathtaking stunt.

The tightrope monarch then broke records by making his way back, carrying a pole for balance, and completing the walk in just two minutes. You can see the nail-biting stunt below:

Wallenda's walk was broadcast with a 10-second delay on Discovery - allowing producers to cut the feed in case of a fatal fall. The record attempt needed special clearance from the US Federal Aviation Administration and Coast Guard, and was months in development.
