Pedestrians and bicyclists had the run of the streets of Paris on Sunday for a Journée Sans Voiture (Day Without Cars) event.
The City of Light banned saw a ban on cars in large parts of its centre, including the famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées - which instead became the location for an impromptu game of football.
More an afternoon without cars, the ban was in place from 11am until 6pm and is part of an initiative to draw attention to the city’s dire pollution problem - particularly in advance of climate talks due to take place in Paris in December.
