Ryanair's chairman, David Bonderman has reiterated that the airline will never offer transatlantic flights.

At it's general meeting at Dublin Airport he told shareholders, "We have no interest in flying transatlantic."

Chief executive officer, Micael O'Leary has made a series of statements saying that flights to the US are part of his medium-term ambitions.

The current position is that if Mr O'Leary and Co. ever launch services to the US it will be as a separate company, with different branding.

In March of this year news circulated that Ryanair was planning to launch a transatlantic service, this was said to be part of a five-year growth strategy, with prices starting as low as £10. These reports were based on an emailed statement from the company.

Within days the company released a second statement to the stock market saying that it had not approved transatlantic services, it read:

"In the light of recent press coverage, the Board of Ryanair Holdings Plc wishes to clarify that it has not considered or approved any transatlantic project and does not intend to do so."
