Mary Hanafin has been officially added to Fianna Fáil's election ticket in Dún Laoghaire.
The former minister has been added to the ticket despite missing out on a nomination at a convention on Monday night.
Hanafin topped the poll at Monday's convention but was pipped by Councillor Cormac Devlin on transfers.
Both Hanafin and Devlin have both previously claimed that the party's best hope for a seat is by running a single candidate - but the two will now both go forward in what is effectively a three-seat constituency.
In a statement this morning, Cormac Devlin said he still believes a single-candidate strategy would offer Fianna Fáil's best hope of taking a seat.
He said the decision to add Hanafin as a running mate "dramatically reduces the chances of Fianna Fáil securing a seat in Dún Laoghaire" - but he will work even harder than before to try and get elected.
