The Garda Ombudsman is investigating after a shooting incident involving an off-duty Garda last night.
It happened in the early hours of this morning on Portobello Road in Dublin.
At around 2am, locals reported hearing shouting and a noise that sounded like a gunshot.
It is believed an off-duty Garda approached a group of three people and told them to put their hands above their heads.
According to the Garda Ombudsman (GSOC), an "official Garda firearm was discharged" during the incident, injuring a man.
In a statement this afternoon, GSOC said the injured man is "currently receiving medical attention and his injury is described as non-life-threatening".
The case was referred to GSOC as part of standard procedure when an officer is involved in an incident where someone is seriously injured.
A GSOC team attended the scene earlier today.
Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact GSOC on 1890-600-800.
