The Taoiseach says there will be no free vote in Fine Gael on government proposals to deal with abortion law.
Enda Kenny was commenting ahead of the publication tomorrow of the report from the expert group set up to advise the government on abortion.
The Minister for Health will bring the expert group report on the on the 'ABC case' to Cabinet.
It will recommend a range of options to provide legal certainty about when abortion should be carried out to protect the life of the mother.
Speaking in Wales Mr. Kenny said his party has very clear rules and people who are elected on a Fine Gael platform should act and vote in accordance with party decisions.
Minister to take whatever action necessary over Savita case
Meanwhile the Health Minister says he will not be rushed into decisions in the wake of the Savita Halappanavar case.
A solicitor for her widower Praveen says he expects a response from James Reilly by Thursday on requests made about a public inquiry.
But Minister Reilly says he must let the two inquiries underway take their course.
"Look I absolutely respect Praveen Halappanavar's view and his right to do through his legal advisors as he sees fit" he said.
"But I have to await the outcome of the internal inquiry - we also now have the added dimension of a HIQA inquiry".
"And I'll take whatever action those inquires demand I take when they become public" he added.
