Grammy-award winning producer Emilio Estefan has recruited his wife and many more artists to record the song in the face of recent anti-Mexican opinions.
On top of Gloria Estefan, others including Carlos Santana, Wyclef Jean, Thalia, Pepe Aguilar and Wisin are just some of the artists involved with the project.
Emilio Estefan, who has won 19 Grammy-awards to date, has stated that "There’s a message being sent out to the world where people are giving opinions that are plain wrong. [...] We need to lift up our pride and show the world what we’re doing."
Donald Trump came under fire for his anti-Mexican statements earlier this year, and this isn't the first time a musician has taken issue with his campaign, with rock group R.E.M. recently calling him out for using their music without consent.
However, Estefan claims that the song 'We're All Mexicans' isn't a direct response to Trump's statements, instead it "is not so much an answer to the real-estate developer turned Republican candidate as it is an answer to the sentiment that we’ve progressed [as Hispanics] and we need to let people know that. [...] I want to send a message that represents unity.”
Estefan continues “Trump doesn’t represent anything to me. [...] Everyone has their opinion, and he can have whatever opinion he wants, as long as he doesn't humiliate my people."
'We're All Friends' is due for release at the end of September.
