Gardaí have arrested three men following an alleged abduction of a man in his 20s in Athy Co. Kildare this afternoon.

The incident happened at St John’s Lane, Athy shortly after 12 noon.

The man was assaulted by three men and forced into a blue Hyundai Santa Fe, which headed in the direction of Dublin.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident and intercepted and stopped the vehicle on the M9 motorway close to Ballytore, where the three were arrested.

The victim was taken to Naas General Hospital suffering from minor injuries.
