Gardaí are investigating a serious assault that occurred in Whitehall, Co Dublin, this morning. 

According to Gardaí, a man received serious injuries in an assault on the Larkhill Road at approximately 4.30am today. 

The man, aged in his 30s, is currently in Beaumont Hospital receiving treatment for his injuries. 

The scene on the Larkhill Road was preserved and a technical examination was conducted. 

An investigation is currently underway at Santry Garda station under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer. 

Any road users who may have camera footage - including dash-cam - and were travelling in the Larkhill Road and Collins Avenue area between 4am and 5am are asked to come forward to Gardaí.
