Listowel Gardaí are investigating 2 alleged sexual assaults which took place in the town over the weekend.
The first incident is alleged to have taken place in Carroll’s Yard between Friday night and Saturday morning.
While the second alleged incident took place between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The alleged victims are understood to be 2 young girls.
They were taken to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit in Cork.
Carroll’s Yard in the centre of Listowel was cordoned off for a time yesterday as Gardaí examined the area.
Superintendent Michael Fitzpatrick says Gardai are following a definite line of enquiry in each case and are preparing files for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The incidents at the weekend bring to 3 the number of sexual assaults alleged to have taken place in the north Kerry town within the past 2 weeks.
Listowel Gardaí are also investigating the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl in the town on the night of September 14th.
Similarly to incidents last weekend Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry and preparing a file for the DPP.
