A man has been arrested by Gardai in county Louth who have been carrying out an operation targeting the activities of dissident republicans.

It follows on from a number of searches carried out earlier this week by members of the Special Detective Unit and local Gardaí in the Jenkinstown area.

The man - who is in his mid 30's - is currently being detained at Dundalk Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
