Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information regarding the murders of two people in Ballymun last week.

Mother-of-six Antoinette Corbally, 48, and Clinton Shannon, 30, died in the attack on Balbutcher Drive on August 16th.

Investigators believe the attackers were attempting to murder another man who was also in the property at the time, but escaped.

Today, Detective Superintendent Colm Fox said the wider public and the Ballymun community have greatly assisted the investigation so far.

He called for any information on the movements of two cars used by the killers.

The first car investigators are interested in is a silver Opel Zafira with the registration number 08 LS 3101.

Detective Superintendent Fox said the car was parked beside a building site at the junction of Balbutcher Lane and Balbutcher Drive, Ballymun for at least an hour before the murders.

Gardaí believe the occupants of the car would have had a clear view of the crime scene from where it was parked.

He said the car moved on from its position when the intended target of the attack drove on to the street.

Anyone who noticed the vehicle at any point before the fatal attack is asked to make contact.

Gardaí are also interested in the movements of a second car, used by the attackers to make their escape.

Detective Superintendent Fox said they fled the scene on foot towards Crannoge Terrace where the getaway car - a black Volkswagen Golf with the registration 09-LH-3466 - was waiting.

The killers were driven across Ballymun in the direction of Ikea and on through the Northwood business, retail and housing development.

They then entered Santry Close - where the car was set on fire.

Detective Superintendent Fox said the cars were purchased in the weeks before the attack - adding that they "had to have been parked up somewhere."

"I am asking members of the public to contact us if indeed they did see these cars parked up anywhere or even similar type cars," he said.

"Parking spaces in apartment complexes, housing estates, and other parking areas are at a premium.

"Was your parking spot or a neighbour's blocked by either of these cars or similar cars - or indeed any car for any length of time?"

He said any information "no matter how insignificant it may seem" could be extremely important to the investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact gardaí at Ballymun Garda Station on 01-6664400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800666111 or any garda station.
