Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a body in a rural area outside Dunmanway in west Cork.
The body was discovered at a house early this morning.
The remains are that of a man understood to be in his late 60s, who is thought to have died more than a week ago.
It is believed the man lived at the house on his own. However, a post mortem will be carried out tomorrow at Cork University Hospital to confirm his identity.
The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.
Gardaí say the death is not believed to be suspicious, and they are awaiting the results of the post mortem and forensic examination.
