Gardaí are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a woman in County Mayo in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Investigators said the assault is alleged to have happened at around 2am on Lucan Street in Castlebar on the 27th of December.

The woman is believed to be aged in her 20s.

The Garda investigation is ongoing.
