The funeral mass of Martin O’Rourke, the innocent man shot dead amid Dublin’s gangland feud, has been taking place this afternoon.
Fr Derek Farrell told mourners at St Michan's Church that Martin O'Rourke was a proud young Traveller man who loved his Traveller culture and tradition.
He said that the 24-year-old was a young man who had callously and brutally been robbed of everything.
The priest said Martin was a devoted fiancé to Angeline, and a loving father to his three young children.
Mr O'Rourke was due to start a drug rehabilitation course and had planned to get a job ahead of the birth of his fourth child.
Gardaí believe an associate of a local drug gang had been the intended target for the shooting, and that Mr O'Rourke was killed in a case of mistaken identity.
Almost €2,000 has been raised via a GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral and relieve the burden carried by his family.
Local Councillor Christy Burke says they really appreciate the support, and says they will be sending "Martin off in a very dignified way".
