Four men accused of falsely imprisoning and seriously hurting an executive of Quinn Industrial Holdings have pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Kevin Lunney, a 51-year-old father-of-six, claims he was ordered to resign his position at the company before being subjected to a serious assault.

Darren Redmond and Alan O’Brien, who are both from East Wall in Dublin 3, Luke O’Reilly of Mullahoran Lower, Kilcogy, Co Cavan and a fourth man who can’t be identified have gone on trial before the non-jury Special Criminal Court.

The prosecuting barrister, Sean Guerin, described this as a “complex circumstantial case”.

On September 17th 2019, he claims Kevin Lunney was bundled into the back of a car by two masked men and then taken to a container on the land of one of the accused, where he was allegedly told to resign his position at Quinn Industrial Holdings

He claims he was stripped and subjected to a beating, which involved being struck with something that broke his leg and being marked with a Stanley knife before he was doused in bleach and dumped on the side of a road in Cavan.

Mr Lunney told gardaí he was repeatedly told to leave the company and told the other directors had to resign too.

He said he was also ordered to stop all the other court cases.
