Four men were arrested in Dublin yesterday for trespassing and occupying the former home of an elderly couple who were evicted last month.

Violet and Martin Coyne were forced to leave the home they were renting in Carpenterstown for 15 years, following a long-running dispute with the bank appointed receiver who wants to sell the house.

Yesterday morning, four supporters of the couple got into the house and occupied it. They were arrested at around 2:45pm for trespassing and public order offences.

They were subsequently released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

Martin Coyne spoke to the Pat Kenny Show after they were evicted in August. You can listen back here
