There is a high tide flood warning in place for Dublin tonight.
Low pressure and a strong southerly wind mean Dublin City Council’s had to close the car parks at Sandymount and Clontarf.
The council has also deployed flood defence on the river dodder and put sandbags in areas at risk.
High tide is due at around midnight.
The council will lift the precautions tomorrow, “when the current spell of high tides and weather conditions change”, according to a statement.
Met Éireann has forecast showers becoming more isolated tonight in Dublin, with clear spells developing while westerly winds will become light, allowing mist and fog to develop.
