The country's biggest traditional music festival has decided against accepting sponsorship from Shell.

This year's Fleadh begins in Sligo on Sunday, but it came under fire from a number of sources over the decision to take funding from the oil company, including the Shell to Sea group.

Organisers say they have returned the money 'to avoid any unnecessary distractions' from the festival.

Shell says it is disappointed by the decision.
