Five people have been arrested after a man was seriously injured in an assault at a house in Kildare.

The man was taken to Tallaght Hospital after the incident at a house in Father Murphy Park, Robertstown in the early hours of Sunday morning.

His condition is now described as serious but stable.

In a statement this morning, Gardai said three men (aged in their 20s, 30s and 50s) and two women (aged in their 20s and 40s) have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Investigators are continuing to appeal to anyone with any information to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to drivers who were in the area between 1am and 4am and may have dash-cam footage.
