A 51-year-old man is alleged to have shot and killed five people before turning the weapon on himself in Georgia on Friday night, after two separate shootings.

Police officials in the states say that the suspect, who lived locally, killed three adults at a shooting in one house and two others in a separate shooting at another house.

The shootings are said to have occurred about 35 minutes apart. The first of the shootings took place just before 8pm where police say that two victims were declared dead at the scene while the the third died later in hospital.

A man and a woman, were found with gunshot wounds at the second shooting, which is reported to have occurred shortly after 8.30pm about a mile and a half away from the site of the first fatal incident.
