A Dublin fireman is being hailed a hero, after delivering a baby at the side of the road over the weekend.

33-year-old Rob Nulty responded to the call in Lusk in north Dublin on Saturday afternoon.

An 18-year-old's contractions were too close together to make it to the Rotunda Hospital in time.

Rob, and his colleague Paul McGurrell, managed to get her into the back of their fire truck before the baby boy was born safely.

Rob is based in Tara Street and has been a fireman since 2008.

He says people have been singing his praises since the weekend.
